Private driver van on a scenic Sri Lanka road at sunset

Overview: 10 Days to 2 Weeks Classic First-Timer Plan

10-Day Sri Lanka Itinerary Illustrated Route Map

This is the itinerary we recommend most often to first-time visitors who have the time to experience Sri Lanka properly.

Plan this part of your trip Tea Train & Nine Arch Bridge — Make room for the highland rail journey in a longer itinerary.

Over 10 to 14 days, you will travel from the ancient Cultural Triangle through the sacred city of Kandy, up into the dramatic tea highlands, across to the wildlife-rich south, and finally to the beaches of the southern coast — all in a fully private vehicle with a dedicated driver.

This plan can be completed in 10 days at a comfortable pace, or extended to 14 days by adding extra nights at your favourite locations, incorporating an Ayurveda retreat, or exploring additional destinations such as Trincomalee on the east coast.
